ADOPTION CONTRACT
SUGGESTIONS
1. Adoption Contract Contains:
A-Horses can never be bred, raced, leased, sold,
given away, traded, transferred, or
commercially used.
B-If the Adopter can no longer care for the horse it
must be returned to the organization, or
with the organization's approval
may move to a screened and approved home with
a new adoption contract.
C-In those rare cases where a horse moves from one
approved adopter to another, a new contract must
be signed by the new adopter.

ADOPTION APPLICATION SUGGESTIONS
WHY?
1. Adoption Application Information:
A- Name and also known as-past names, address, cell phone #, email address, employment Information.
B- List all horses they have had in the last five years,
where they are today, and the circumstances.
C- List all horses currently owned or adopted (names, ages, uses)
D- Boarding facility address, name and contact
information

To search through the internet for accuracy, and maintain contact information.

To understand the applicant's history of owning and selling horses. You want to see long term homing and lifetime committment.

To understand how their horses are used and how many are on the property.
(is size adequate?)
1D
To search the internet for any history of the facility as well as the manger of the facility for any neglect, or charges. To keep track of the horse's location.
2. References For the Potential Adopter:
A.)Equine Veterinarian, and Farrier
(with at least a 2-year history of caring for the
applicant's horses.)
B) Small Animal Veterinarian (with at least a 2-year history of caring for the applicant's horses.)
E.)Trainer (if applicable)
F.)Personal Reference (non-relative)
G. )Neighbor Reference ( if at least for the past two
years)
H.) Boarding Facility (current/intended if
applicable)
