Reasons Horses are Sent for Slaughter?
Animals do not have guardians, leaving them dependent on the person in their moment to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Re-homing or selling a horse always comes with risks.

Ignorance, no concern for the animal, and deceit play a large role in the reason for horses being shipped for slaughter.
We hear all too often how someone found a good home for their horse, yet horses crowd kill pens, and these same caring people are unaware that THEIR horse is now one of the many fighting for his life.

Racehorses do not have measures for protection once they're no longer wanted. The Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorse programs provided by the racing industries offer some financial assistance for charitable adoption programs, however, they come with requirements that continue to put the horse at risk, and will not assist with programs freeing individuals condemned to kill pens.
